Hi there!

I’m katie, the face behinD the traveling spud! I created this blog to offer inspiration and attainable travel advice for female travelers craving adventure.

I’m so thrilled that you decided to stop by! I’m Katie, the face, founder, and editor of the Traveling Spud. I have lived in Boise, Idaho for 4 years and now live with my fiance.

I created the Traveling Spud blog in 2014 when I was living in San Francisco and working in the tech industry. After traveling quite a bit for my marketing job, I decided to start a solo travel blog to document my adventures. The name Traveling Spud came from the fact that I grew up in a small town in Idaho where we’re known for our famous potatoes (spuds)!

In 2016 and at 26 years old, I decided to embark on the best decision I’ve ever made—traveling solo around the world for a year! It was the best adventure I’ve ever taken. Because of this, I decided to create a course teaching others exactly how to make it happen for themselves. See more about my course below!

The Traveling Spud blog is packed with city guides, travel tips, hotel reviews, and itineraries from Idaho and all across the globe. My goal is to show you that travel can be attainable and epic at the same time.

While we’re at it, let’s be friends on Instagram and Tiktok!

Interested in traveling long-term as I did? I don’t blame you! It will be one of the best decisions you ever make for yourself. Click below to learn more about the travel course and how it can serve you.
